I am so annoyed with myself that it took me this long to put up this review of the Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette! This palette has been on two trips since I bought it late last year and tried and tested thoroughly – so I really have no excuse! What took me so long is that I wanted to create a few makeup looks to demonstrate how versatile this palette is and I never got around to sitting down and just doing it. So apologies for the late upload, but, it’s finally here! Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook to see the five makeup looks I created with this palette. I will be uploading a new look every day from Monday to Friday, so prepare yourself for a lot of selfie spam (but it’s worth it, I promise!)

*Apologies in advance for the visuals. It is rather difficult to capture the true shades of the eyeshadows on camera. In an attempt to keep it as natural and true as to how it looks in real life, I did not enhance or add any filters to the pictures to pretty them up. So the light might vary a bit between the photos and in the close-up there is a duplicate of the shades ‘Universal Delight’ and ‘Start Soft’ as it is super difficult to film a 10-shade palette.
Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette
Product: The Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette is a ten shade eyeshadow palette with majority warm coppery, burnt orange and golden shades. I am very much into warm, earthy tones of late and when I saw this palette as one of The Anna Edit’s favorites I knew I had to get my hands on it. Zoeva is an affordable brand known for their quality brushes and eyeshadow palettes. The brand has so many eyeshadow palettes that are simply gorgeous and caters for both cool and warm undertones. They really have the perfect palette for every girl! If you want to have a look at their stunning palette range you can click here. I can guarantee you will find a palette that you absolutely must have!
Packaging: I absolutely love the chic, stylish design of the Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette. The palette is of excellent quality, sturdy, slim and compact. It does not have a mirror on the inside, which would have been nice, but other than that I totally adore this packaging.
Shades: The Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette has six matte and four shimmer shades mostly in warm-toned hues. My favorites are: Alchemy, Start Soft, 182°C, Almost Burnt and Liquid Center.
Texture: Both the matte and shimmer shades are buttery, soft and easy to work with.
Application: I find these eyeshadows pack on better/more pigmented with a synthetic brush and blends easier with a natural fiber brush. I normally use a MAC 217 brush for blending.
Pigmentation: The matte shades are a little bit more powdery and slightly less pigmented when directly compared to the shimmer shades. Having said this, the pigmentation of the matte shades are still fantastic, especially if you use a good quality eyeshadow primer. The shimmer shades have excellent pigmentation but with more fallout (especially the darkest aubergine shade: Edible Gem) compared to the matte shades. The matte shades have virtually no fallout. Bear in mind that it’s not unusual for a highly pigmented shimmer or glitter shade to have some fallout and it is nothing that cannot be erased with a quick swipe of a fluffy brush.
Wear: I tested the palette several times with and without a primer. I came to the conclusion that I would recommend using a primer to get the best out of this palette in terms of wear and pigmentation. The colors are so much more vibrant and it doesn’t crease at all when using a primer. I find that without a primer there was some degree of creasing, the colors were not as vivid and it didn’t last as well during the day. When used with a primer I really couldn’t fault the palette’s wear on any aspect.
Price: €22 (equivalent of roughly R320, absolute bargain!)
What did I think? I fell in love with the shades even before I received the palette, I literally cannot stop gushing about it. As I moved away the past year from cooler toned shadows to warmer hues it is easy to see why this is my most-used eyeshadow palette for the last few months. I think the Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette is an incredibly versatile palette and as mentioned in the intro I have already taken it with on two trips and I never once felt I needed additional eyeshadows. I think for what you get these palettes are very affordable. I am very happy with the overall quality, from the packaging to the actual shadows. The Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette gets a big thumbs-up from me.
Will I buy this palette again? Yes, I will definitely purchase this palette again. In fact, I now have my eye on the Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette.
Is the Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette a possible ‘dupe’ for the new Urban Decay Naked Heat palette? This is one of the reasons that I cannot wait to get my hands on the new Urban Decay Naked Heat palette. Majority of the shades in the Naked Heat palette looks so incredibly similar to the Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette shades and I am curious if it might be a dupe. If it is a match then I am not sure who exactly will be named the dupe seeing that the Zoeva palette has been around for a long time but it is the more affordable option of the two. But that’s just me being technical (I am hungry as I am typing this!) I will let you guys know as soon as I can get my hands on the Naked Heat palette.
