I was doing my makeup for the Essence The False Lashes Dramatic Volume Mascara post and I suddenly realised that I can actually do a full face using only my favourite Essence products. I recently cleared out my makeup drawers to re-home makeup that I no longer use and I am left with a significantly smaller collection than what I previously had. I was ruthless with the reduction and I literally only kept the products that I absolutely love and use often. It came as no surprise that many Essence products made the cut to stay. The packaging is nearly without fail a bit wonky and broken on these items, but the actual product is simply stellar and I consider these to be my absolute favourite products from Essence.
Apart from a primer, eyeshadow base and setting spray (to date I haven’t found one from this brand that I can truly call a favourite) I can do a full face using only my favourites from Essence and that really says something about the brand. I am pretty sure Essence is right up top for most of us as a favourite drugstore brand. I would absolutely love to know what your favourite products from Essence are! Please be so kind to leave me a comment below or on my social media channels.
I hope you will all have a wonderful weekend and have a happy Friday! xx
Foundation: Camouflage 2-in-1 Makeup & Concealer
I should actually write a full review on this fantastic foundation! The Essence Camouflage 2-in-1 foundation has a smooth, creamy texture and easily blends to a beautiful finish. It is not full coverage per sé, but rather a very decent medium coverage. I found that a Beauty Blender does not pair well with this foundation – the coverage is very light if you use a beauty sponge. A buffing brush however works like a charm. The foundation lasts very well throughout the day and doesn’t settle into fine lines and pores. I also didn’t experience any oiliness with this product. The shade range is unfortunately a bit limited.
I really liked the Fresh and Fit Awake Makeup as well (you can read my very detailed review here), but the Camouflage 2-in-1 Foundation was the one that went back into the drawer instead of being re-homed.
Concealer: Camouflage Full Coverage Concealer
I have one word for this concealer: BRILLIANT! I absolutely love this product and it is currently one of my most used concealers! This concealer is so smooth and creamy, yet easy to blend, conceals dark circles perfectly and it simply does not crease! Once again the shade range is sadly limited (come now, Essence!) and I am going to say that I actually prefer this concealer to my very much loved Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer. Blush: Satin Touch Blush
I get the sense that this post is going to be exhausting to read…. Because I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all these products! The Essence Satin Touch Blush is without any doubt my favourite and most used blush in my current collection. I love it more that all of my high-end favourite blushes combined. The product is so pigmented, easy to blend to a seamless finish, long lasting and the shades are simply beautiful and will suit so many skin tones. It costs next to nothing and if you don’t have it in your makeup bag, then I would strongly suggest remedying the situation over the weekend.
Bronzer: Luminous Matt Bronzing Powder
I wrote a full review on this amazing bronzer here. All I can say is that I have major love for this product. What is really handy is that there are two shades available: one for darker and one for lighter skin. If you have fair skin you will know that ‘standard’ bronzer shades are often too orange or ‘muddy’, especially with drugstore bronzers. This little gem solves the problem for fair skinned ladies and I would highly recommend having a look at this product when visiting an Essence counter again.
Highlighter: Light Up Your Face Luminizer Palette
I have already made a proper dent into this product and use it nearly on a daily basis. This luminizer palette has three shades: a nude highlighter with a beautiful subtle glow, a rosé highlighter that is a bit more shimmery and lastly a golden beige shade. I mostly mix the two lighter shades together and it leaves my skin with a beautiful, luminous glow. It’s not a blinding highlighter, but rather a subtle sheen, just the way I like it.
Powder: Stay All Day Translucent Fixing Powder
I am not normally a fan of loose powders (mainly because of the mess and I find them incredibly drying on my already dry skin), but this Essence Stay All Day Translucent Fixing Powder has changed my mind. It works so well as a setting powder and for baking purposes. The powder doesn’t dry my skin too much, is soft to the touch and simply melts into the skin. You can read my full review here.
Eyebrows: Eyebrow Designer Pencil and Make Me Brow
I have spoken so many times on my blog about these two products and I won’t bore you with long stories. In short: this is my go-to travel brow products and if something makes it to my travel makeup bag then you will know it is damn good. The Essence Make Me Brow is a spot-on dupe for the significantly more expensive Benefit Gimme Brow Eyebrow Mascara and the pencil is simply stellar!
Eyeshadows: I <3 Nudes- and Metal Shock Eyeshadow
As you can see from the picture, my poor I <3 Nude Eyeshadows has taken a serious beating in the packaging department. But I use them so often and I am not even remotely willing to part with these shadows. As far as I can remember there were six shades in this baked eyeshadow range, but my two favourites are this beautiful brown shade (sweet chocolate) and the stunning champagne shade (créme brûlée) that I often use as a highlighter as well. This was one of the very first products I reviewed years ago when I started my blog and I still love them to this very day. As much as I cringe to link such an old blogpost (I think all bloggers die a little inside when looking at their early days’ photos and writing) I am still going to do so. So if you need more information on these amazing shadows then click here.
The Essence Metal Shock Liquid Eyeshadows were featured in my best of 2017 products post. I wore the pinkish silvery shade yesterday and I am always, without fail, asked what I am wearing on my lids whenever I wear one of these liquid shadows. I would recommend reading my full review for tips and tricks to get the best out of these shadows. You can find the full review here
Eyeliner: Waterproof Eyeliner Pen
I am not going to give away too many spoilers on this product apart from it is bloody brilliant and a definite dupe for a significantly more expensive high-end liner. The review on the Essence Waterproof Eyeliner Pen will be up soon. For now: if you see it, buy it! You won’t regret it!
Mascara: The False Lashes Dramatic Volume Mascara
I reviewed this amazing mascara on Wednesday and received so many comments from readers that this mascara is a firm favourite for them too! I really enjoyed the Essence Lash Princess range as well. If however I have to choose only one favourite mascara from Essence, then The False Lashes Dramatic Volume will be my choice. If you haven’t read my review yet and you are in the market for a new (super affordable!) mascara, then be sure to click here.
Lipliners: Longlasting Lipliner
I wrote a full review on these creamy, amazing lipliners here. I use them all the time and my favourite shade is definitely ‘Lovely Frappuchino’. Apart from being extraordinarily good, these Essence lipliners are also super affordable and available in a wide range of beautiful shades.
Lipstick: Matt Matt Matt and Longlasting Lipsticks
When I was still working very long hours I used the Essence Long-lasting Lipsticks on an everyday basis. Why? Because they are that good! These lipsticks are not drying at all, stay put all day and it will not let you down. The shade range is simply lovely with something to suit all skin tones. You can read my full review here. My favourite shade is without any doubt ‘Natural Beauty’ – it is literally the most beautiful nude shade that looks like ‘rich girl makeup’.
I really enjoyed the Matt Matt Matt lipsticks as well and I am sure it comes as no surprise that it made it to my Top-10 Best Product list for 2017. I have also gifted this little beauty to many friends and family. It truly is a must-have! You can read my full review here.
We finally made it to the end! I hope you enjoyed reading this post and please let me know that your favourites makeup items from Essence are.
