If you have been reading my blog for a while or follow me on social media you will know I am the biggest Skin Creamery fan! I raved about their products so many times in the past and I will continue to praise these products for the next years to come. So saddle up! I just love the company, what they stand for and the founder, Hannah, is absolutely gorgeous (with the most amazing skin!) and is such a kind and friendly person. I really appreciate the thought and expertise that go into all her products.
If you missed my previews reviews you can click here. My favourite product from Skin Creamery is hands down the Everyday Cream For Face And Body. I simply LOVE it and I have been through so many bottles (and refills recently) the last years. It is the most luxurious, delicious, effective cream you will ever use. I think the Skin Creamery Everyday Cream refills made up most of my luggage when I came back from my Cape Town visit in April and my mother-in-law is bringing me a fresh batch in December. As long as I am alive you will not catch me without a healthy backup supply of this miracle product. If you missed my full review, you can catch up here.
I was actually busy writing my review for their ‘newish’ Oil Milk Cleanser when I wanted to tag the review of the Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil and to my shock realised I never did a full review on this product! That will need to be rectified pronto, hence this review. The product is not new on the market or new to me, I have been using it for more than 18-months. I just wanted to tell you all about it, just in case somebody has not heard about this wonderful facial oil before.
Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil
Product: “Mother Nature’s own omega elixir, made using a blend of certified organic baobab, jojoba and Kalahari melon seed oils for dewy, radiant skin. The oil molecules break down when mixed with a small amount of water. This helps to break down oil molecules; making it so smooth it simply melts into the skin. Each oil has been specially selected for its ability to penetrate the skin and nourish from within.” – Skin Creamery Website
Ingredients and Benefits: “Jojoba oil helps create a protective barrier, without clogging the pores. Once fully absorbed into the skin, Jojoba oil acts as a cleanser from within. It penetrates deep into the follicle, clearing out any blockages in the pores. This wonder-oil also acts as an anti-inflammatory, soothing irritated skin and relieving the symptoms of eczema and psoriasis.
Baobab gently heals and hydrates the skin. Baobab contains antioxidants and essential fatty acids like omegas 6 and 9, which naturally protects your skin from the elements.
Kalahari melon seed oil has incredible restructuring and regenerating properties. The oil contains a large amount of phytosterols, which maintain the barrier function of skin.” – Skin Creamery Website
Packaging: Like all their products, the Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil is no exception in terms of gorgeous packaging. I am always amazed at the luxury level of these products and it makes me so proud that it is a locally produced brand. The facial oil is packaged in a beautiful glass bottle with a pipette to easy dispensing and control the amount of product you need.
Fragrance: I love the fragrance of this facial oil! It has this amazing scent with clean, fresh hints of Rose Geranium, Patchouli and Ylang-Ylang. I cannot emphasise it enough: I am absolutely besotted with the fragrance of these products. To be honest, all Skin Creamery’s products nail the spa-experience with its delicious, luxurious and expensive scents. You know what I am talking about, right? Like all the products in the range, the Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil is also a certified organic product.
How To Use: It is recommended that you dilute 2 drops (I sometimes use up to 4 drops) of the Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil in a little water, rub your hands together to mix and apply to your skin. I know: oil and water are not technically friends. In this case the water seems to be an excellent carrier and it works tremendously well. It is really important to mix this oil with water to allow your skin the chance to absorb the product. When done this way it doesn’t leave any oily residue behind and sinks right into the skin. I have mixed it into my moisturiser before out of laziness and it works well, but the product doesn’t absorb as fully as when mixed solely with water and it leaves some oiliness behind on the skin (and my pillow). So, don’t take shortcuts.
Does It Work? When mixed correctly with water (i.e don’t take my shortcuts!) the Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil is rapidly absorbed by the skin. When used for a few consecutive days I always note my skin feeling so soft and plump. My skin feels and looks genuinely hydrated with dehydration lines smoothed out. This product really is a highly effective, deeply hydrating masterpiece. I am always cautious when I see oils in any description due to previous acne trauma that I still haven’t forgotten about – I can assure you that I have never experienced any form of breakouts or irritation from using this product.
Skintypes: Although it is an ‘oil’ based product it is suitable for all skintypes, even if you have oilier or combination skin. Gasp, I know! Did you know that dehydration is extremely common in combination and oilier skin? You might produce excessive oil, but can have a shortage of water molecules or moisture retention in your skin. We often confuse dry and dehydrated skin. It is not the same thing. Dry skin lacks oil. Dehydrated skin lacks water. The oils used in the Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil is therefor designed in a way as to not exacerbate the production of oils by the skin, but to replenish and lock in moisture that was lost. This product is also hypoallergenic.
Price: R310 per unit and as you use so little product a bottle will last you a very, very long time.
Stockist: I normally order directly from Skin Creamery’s website and always received excellent, speedy service and beautifully packaged parcels! You can click can here to order this product directly from them or click here to view a list of stockists.
What did I think? I think it is quite clear by my excitement levels that I really love and enjoy this product. The amazing fragrance won me over and I love how soft and plumped up it leaves my skin. I really have the biggest respect for Skin Creamery’s products, it just works. I have tried the whole Skin Creamery line except for the skin tonic. I am so keen to try it though and will make sure it is in my basket for my December delivery. In the mean time, keep an eye out for my review of the Skin Creamery Oil Milk Cleanser that will be up soon.
Will I buy this product again? Uhm, if it is not obvious already! Yes! I am on my second bottle and will continue to purchase the Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil.
