It is finally time for my very overdue Sephora haul from my New York trip back in September. I have disappeared off the blog for a whole month due to a family emergency I had to attend to back in South Africa, but I am now back home and happy to resume my blogging. I really missed all my lovely readers and interacting with you guys on social media. So what did I pick up from Sephora? Let’s have a look.
Chanel Gabrielle EDP
I have spoken about this incredible scent a few times on my social media. It is Chanel’s first new perfume launch in 15-years and it is absolutely delicious! It mesmerised me from the very first time I tested it and I have been using it nearly every day since. As perfume reviews are not my forté I am rather going to reroute you to a detailed review by the lovely Sarah from Mascara and Mimosas blog. You can click here to read her review. On a point of order, how incredibly beautiful is that bottle?
Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer
This was pretty much a ‘YouTube Made Me Do It’ purchase! The Photo Finish Primerizer from Smashbox is a relatively new product and loved by many a YouTuber. The product is supposed to be a moisturiser/primer combination product and the answer to all dry skins’ prayers. I had to steel myself a bit at the $42 price tag, but I was so keen to try this product as I have dry and dehydrated skin and this sure sounds like a miracle to me. I have used it a few time thus far and to be honest, I am still on the fence and not 100% sure if it was worth spending that amount of money. It is definitely nice and lovely, but it doesn’t quite do anything sensational, not as a moisturiser or a primer. That being said, I don’t think I have given it a truly fair chance yet and will play with it a bit more to see if it grows on me. If you have tried this product I would love to know about your experience.
Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder
I think most of my purchases have either been ‘YouTube Made Me Do It’ or repurchases! This was another recommendation by Kathleen Lights and is said to work wonderfully with drier skin. I haven’t tried it yet, but I am definitely looking forward.
Too Faced HangoveRx Replenishing Face Primer
This was a solid repurchase. I should really do a full review on this brilliant product. The Too Faced HangoveRx Replenishing Face Primer is one of very few silicone-free primers. I find it super hydrating on my skin and totally love the delicious coconut scent. I sometimes apply it on my skin as an extra burst of moisture, even when I am not wearing any makeup. I will do a full review on this product as soon as possible.
Buxom Full-On Lip Polish
As mentioned last week on Instagram stories I am so completely over matte lip products and I am all about the juicy, glossy lips at the moment. This Buxom Lip Polish just looked so interesting on my way to the checkout and I popped it into my basket. I have used it on and off for the past few weeks and I actually really like it. It promises a plumping effect, but apart from the mild cooling sensation it doesn’t really add volume to my lips. That being said, it sure is a pretty nice lipgloss and lasts really well.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder
Believe it or not, I have never tried any Hourglass highlighters before and I couldn’t resist picking up this cute travel-size Ambient Lighting Powder. I haven’t tried it yet, but I am looking forward to shine bright like a diamond.
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
I think this is probably one of the most raved about eyeliners on the internet and even though I am no winged-liner queen, I literally can’t wait to give this tattoo liner from Kat Von D a go!
Dior Addict Lipstick
I have been wanting one of these glorious lipsticks for the longest time! The magnificent packaging alone is enough reason to purchase this lipstick! I have been wearing this lipstick nearly on an every day basis and it slots perfectly into the glossy lips I am so fond of nowadays. It wears really well on its own or over any shade lipstick to add a bit of shine.
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
This another repurchase. The Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray is still my all-time favourite setting spray and I use this product every single time I apply my makeup. I wrote a full review of this product that you can read here if you need more information.
Benefit The POREfessional Pro Balm
The Benefit Porefessional Pro Balm is my all-time favourite pore-minimizing primer and I simply purchased this to replenish my stash at home. I wrote a full review of this magical product here.
Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray
If you have ever been in a Sephora store, you will understand how difficult it is to walk through the travel-size isle on your way to the checkout counters. I just want to buy all the mini’s! Although it is definitely not the best value for money, it sure is a nice way to try new products without committing to the full-size product. This is how I ended up with the Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray. I haven’t tried it yet, but hopefully will soon and revert back.
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pored Pressed Powder
This powder received rave reviews and came highly recommended by many beauty YouTubers while doing my research. Sadly I have since seen some disappointing reviews after it was part of the October Boxycharm subscription box. I will hopefully start testing it soon and I am holding thumbs for a favourable experience.
Urban Decay Single Eye Shadow
I absolutely love the shade Chopper and hit pan on it quite quickly in my NAKED 2 palette. Luckily one can purchase some of the Urban Decay’s eyeshadow shades in singles and I was so happy to be able to have Chopper back in my life.
Sephora Make No Mistake Foundation & Concealer Stick
Like the travelsize isle, the Sephora housebrand is another trap where you can end up spending a lot more money than you intended to. I wanted to try the Hourglass Vanish Stick foundation for the longest time, but it is quite expensive ($46) and I was worried that I wouldn’t like that level of full coverage foundation. So luckily for me Sephora copied the stick foundation into their housebrand range at a fraction of the price and make it easier to try something new.
Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette
This was obviously a must-have and I just couldn’t say ‘no’. I still need to do the proper photography (the curse of the blogger life) and then I can finally start playing with this beauty. I am so in love with these warm shades and from all the amazing looks my fellow bloggers have created with this palette, I just know it is going to be a smasher!
Ouai Memory Mist
This is one of Kathleen Lights’ favourites and so I forked out the money for this memory mist spray from Ouai. I have used it a few times and I must say sadly it hasn’t really blew my mind. I want to investigate a bit more as to how to properly use this product, but so far my curls doesn’t last well when I use this memory mist and it has a strong violet fragrance which I am not a particular fan of. I don’t want to be too quick with my judgement though, I often dislike a product at first and then it grows on me over time.
Bumble & Bumble Don’t Blow It (H)air Styler
This is another repurchase and one of my favourite hair styler products. I wrote a full review of this product not too long ago and you can catch up here if you missed it.
