Welcome to brow week! I am super into brow pencils and pomades and this week I am doing reviews of three exciting brow pomades: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade, NYX Tame And Frame Brow Pomade and Benefit’s Ka-Brow! These three products have been on my radar for a while and I was so excited to try and review them for you. Today’s review will focus on the NYX Tame And Frame Brow Pomade. Monday the spotlight was on my holy-grail brow product Anastasia Beverley Hills (if you missed the review you can click here) and I will conclude brow week with Benefit’s Ka-Brow on Friday.
NYX Tame And Frame Brow Pomade
Packaging: The NYX Tame And Frame Brow Pomade has stylish, elegant packaging that is small and compact and easy to take with on travels. I think overall the quality of the packaging is excellent and really pretty.
Formula: The formula of the NYX Tame And Frame Brow Pomade is soft, smooth and very creamy. A big plus is that the product is smudge- and waterproof. I’ve seen some complaints that the product becomes ‘crumbly’ when it dries out. I have had mine for nearly 6-months and it is not dry or crumbly at all. I do make sure however that the lid is securely on and store it in a cool, dark drawer.
Pigmentation: The product is highly pigmented so bear this in mind for application.
Application: I normally use an angled brush from Cala and application is an absolute pleasure. It is quite easy to be precise with this product and manipulate the intensity according to the amount of filling-in you need for your brows. Due to the creaminess of the product there is no need for dragging and pulling to get the brows that you want.
Wear: Once the product has set it lasts perfectly well throughout the day, even in hot humid conditions thanks to the waterproof formula.
Shades: Clicks only seem to stock three shades (Black, Espresso and Blonde), whereas here in the Netherlands we have five shades. I purchased the shade ‘Chocolate’ and in hind sight it is a bit dark for me, but ‘Brunette’ had a strong red undertone which would not have suited me. If you want to have a look at the rest of the shades you can click here.
What did I think? I really liked the NYX Tame And Frame Brow Pomade. I think considering the reasonable price and that this is a drugstore product the quality exceeded my expectations. When I compare it to the Anastasia Beverley Hills Dip Brow Pomade it is definitely not a dupe, but honestly, I don’t think there ever will be a dupe. Despite this I think it is the best drugstore brow pomade I have ever tried. Drugstore brow pomades are often waxy, poorly pigmented and difficult to work with. Not this little guy. In my opinion this is the best brow pomade to buy on a limited budget. You will not regret it and it will bring you one step closer to Instagram brows.
Will I buy this product again? Yes, I think this product is worthy of a repurchase.
