My heart is breaking a little while writing this review and sure, I can just not write about my experience with the LOV Dualist 2-in-1 Powder Foundation, but it wouldn’t be fair towards my readers. My blog covers the good, the bad and sadly the ugly too. Myself, my sister and my guest blogger Jolandi have all tried this foundation and it did not work for any of us. We all have different skintypes, so I think it is fair to say we have tested this product quite extensively. I have dry/dehydrated skin as you all know, my sister has combination to normal skin and Jolandi has very oily skin. Ok, so what happened?
LOV Dualist 2-in-1 Powder Foundation
Product: “A sensual feeling on the skin meets with a matte finish. The silky and tender formula with the active ingredient ceramide NP brings a complexion to its perfection and offers a coverage which can be varied individually from sheer to full. The benefit of the texture goes even beyond, as the serum infused powder also helps to maintain the normal skin hydration. For an unique velvety skin feeling.” – L.O.V website
Packaging: Like all L.O.V’s beautiful product packaging, this foundation is no exception and has elegant, luxurious yet functional packaging. It comes in a good quality compact design with a mirror and sponge included.
Formula: The foundation has a powder formula that definitely feels velvety to the touch.
Application: I found the application of the LOV Dualist 2-in-1 Powder Foundation rather difficult. The complimentary sponge works moderately well or a dry (I know!) beauty blender/sponge. A wet sponge or any foundation brush does not work and the product just crumbles when applied with either of these.
Coverage: I would say at most the product has medium coverage, but you need a lot of product to build it up to that level.
Finish: This formula has an extremely matte finish that is indeed soft to the touch. I do feel that the very matte powdery finish gives a mask-like look and ‘ages’ the general appearance of my skin.
Skintypes: The LOV Dualist Foundation is in my opinion not suitable at all for dry or dehydrated skin and even maybe combination to normal skin. Very oily skin might benefit from it provided it doesn’t oxidize* as badly as it did on all of our skins.
Shades: There are 6 shades available. You can have a look at the shade range here.
What did I think? Ok, where do I even start? First of all the application was very difficult. When I finally managed to apply the product I could literally feel it sapping all the moisture from my skin. I have never experienced this from any foundation before. You know when you have a dry under eye area and applying setting powder leaves you with a dry, cakey, wrinkly appearance? This is what the LOV Dualist 2-in-1 Powder Foundation basically did to my facial skin, regardless of all the hydrating primers and moisturisers used prior to application. The foundation clung to dry patches and made my skin so dry that it was uncomfortable to smile.
Secondly, and this was my biggest problem with the product: the foundation oxidised like crazy within mere minutes of application. I wish I kept the picture – I am talking orangutang orange level. The same level of oxidization happened to my sister and Jolandi as well.
As mentioned in the intro and as you can gather from the review: the LOV Dualist 2-in-1 Powder Foundation unfortunately did not work for me. I was really disappointed as the packaging is beautiful, I really like L.O.V as a brand and it could have been a great product for readers with oilier skins. There are not many reviews on this product, so I have no idea if this was an isolated incident or common for the product. If you have used this foundation please let us know about your experience.
Will I buy this product again? Definitely not.
