It is no secret that I am a big fan of Estée Lauder’s foundations and concealers. In fact, I pretty much love all their products. I made a resolution a few months ago to not buy any new foundations until I have finished all the foundations I have piled up in my beauty drawer. Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place has been my go-to foundation for many years and I really missed it when I ran out a few months ago and couldn’t purchase a new bottle due to my little resolution. Well, I am happy to report that I have finally worked through my stash and bought a new bottle last week. Let’s look at the review:
Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation
Packaging: Estée Lauder has glorious packaging for all their products. The Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation is packaged in a heavy, frosted glass bottle with a beautiful golden cap. The packaging definitely oozes luxury. I only have a gripe with the lack of a pump mechanism. After one use the gorgeous bottle is full of foundation fingerprints and it is difficult to control the dispensed amount. A pump mechanism would be very handy and score major point from me.
Consistency: Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation is a creamy, relatively runny liquid which is easy to spread and blend.
Coverage: I would say this product has medium to full coverage with a semi-matte finish. I think readers mistakenly associate it as a thick, cakey, “made up” foundation and it is definitely not. The biggest reason I love this product so much is that is provides excellent coverage, yet still look fresh and natural. It does not feel heavy and as if my skin can’t breathe. The product does not settle in pores and fine lines, doesn’t look flat/ashy and covers moderate scarring and pigmentation with only one application.
Wear: Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place does what it says on the bottle: it stays in place. It does not move/slip during the day (my chin area is particularly challenging with foundations). It is uber long-lasting and I do not have to freshen up my make-up during the day. The Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation does not make my T-zone oily or my cheeks dry. I do set it with powder in my T-zone when I am working or having a long day and have never been let down. I do not feel the need to use a primer with this foundation.
Pair it with: I use Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place concealer or MAC Pro Longwear concealer with this product. For setting powder I use MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powder. If you like a more dewy finish I find a spritz of MAC Fix + works wonders or use Clarins Beauty Flash Balm as a primer.
Shade Range: There are in the order of 28 shades available, covering warmer and cooler skintones.
Will I buy this product again? Absolutely! This is my most favorite foundation of all time and if I have to choose only one foundation, this would be it.
