It is about time that I tell you about my latest lipstick love. And boy, are they good! I am currently obsessed with the Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks. These lipsticks are absolutely brilliant and will suit every girl’s pocket budget-wise. Let’s have a look, shall we?
Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks
Packaging: Look, I adore Essence, you all know that. The company produces excellent products at a very reasonable pricing point. Unfortunately to keep the cost down, and thus affordable, the packaging of the majority of Essence products are not of good quality in my opinion. Sadly the packaging of the Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks are no different. The beautiful silver bullet that contains the product are really sturdy and good quality. The cap however is poor quality and mine cracked after one day in my makeup bag. Pity, but I can live with it seeing that the actual product is superior quality.
Pigmentation: These lipsticks are intensely pigmented and opaque! One swipe is enough to completely cover my lips.
Formula: The formula is soft and creamy and easily glides onto the lips.
Fragrance: The Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks have quite a strong, sweet berry fragrance. It can be a bit overpowering on application but it doesn’t really linger long. I don’t mind the scent though, but if you are sensitive to fragrances it is advisable to give it a sniff in store before purchasing.
Finish: The finish is matte but not to the point where it enhances lip lines and texture.
Comfort: If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know that I normally shy away from matte lip products as I find them uncomfortable and drying. I thus had my reservations when I started testing out the Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks, but I was blown away by the comfort. Once applied the lipsticks are incredibly comfortable to wear and does not dry my lips. When I wear these lipsticks for a full day it does give me a slight ‘grainy’ sensation on the lips towards the end of the day, but nothing a swipe of lipbalm can’t fix.
Wear: Because the Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks have a ultra creamy formula I didn’t expect much in terms of longevity. I was however pleasantly surprised by how well it lasts. I get about 4-5 hours wear before it starts to fade evenly. It does transfer onto cutlery, glasses, cups etc so be sure to take it with you to lunch to top-up afterwards.
Shades: There are currently 8 shades available in the Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks collection. The shades are mostly beautiful nudes with a bright pink, purple and tawny brown shade as well. I have 01 and 02 which are literally the perfect nude shades ever and 03 which is a rich, vibrant berry shade. If you would like to see the full shade range then you can click here. 01 and 02 are very similar, the only difference is that 02 is slightly more pink and darker than 01. 02 is by far my favorite shade as you can see by the wear-and-tear in the picture.
What did I think? I absolutely love these lippies! I think overall that the Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks are excellent value for money and the shades are simply beautiful. The actual product is pigmented, comfortable to wear and a must for every makeup bag.
Will I buy this product again? I will definitely buy the Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks again, especially shade 01 and 02. I have never been able to find such perfect nude shades and seeing that I literally wear it every day I will probably need a replacement soon.
