Another mascara review! There really is no shortage of mascara and concealer reviews on this blog! Today I want to talk about one of my favourite super affordable mascaras, the Essence The False Lashes Dramatic Volume Mascara. I received this mascara a very long time ago in a press drop and I was utterly blown away by the brilliance of this mascara (Don’t worry, I’ve repurchased it since, it is not the super old original featured here!)
Essence The False Lashes Dramatic Volume Mascara
Packaging: I wouldn’t say the Essence The False Lashes Dramatic Volume Mascara’s packaging blew me away. I personally feel the Lash Princess range has adorable packaging and this one in comparison is a bit ‘meh’. Having said this, it is functional and of good quality and that is all that really matters.
Brush: I really enjoyed using this brush. The brush is quite skinny, with dense bristles and has a conic shape. I found it easy to apply the mascara without smudging it all over or require special skill to achieve the desired effect.
Formula: The formula is wet, but not runny and highly pigmented with a jet-black formula.
Effect: I remember how I was taken aback a little when I applied this mascara for the first time. I don’t know why I didn’t expect much, but when I had this beautiful long, black lashes after only two coats I realised that I totally underestimated this product. The Essence The False Lashes Dramatic Volume Mascara does an amazing job at creating incredible length and holds a curl like a waterproof mascara. I wouldn’t say it is the most voluminous mascara I’ve ever used, but look at that length! I can live with that!
Wear: I am pretty pedantic when it comes to mascaras. I really don’t have time for smudging, transfer and fallout. I am therefor happy to report that the Essence The False Lashes Dramatic Volume Mascara wore extremely well and have never let me down. The level of curl does go down a bit as the day goes on, I have never experienced fallout or flaking which for me is the most important.
What did I think? If I have to name my five all-time favourite mascaras, ironically 3 out of 5 is from the drugstore and super affordable. You really don’t have to spend a fortune to get a brilliant mascara, especially as it is that item that needs replacement often. My absolute nr.1 mascara I am sure will come as no surprise: the L’Oréal Lash Paradise mascara (full review here) followed by Dior’s Show Iconic Overcurl and Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume mascara. Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara (you can read my full review here) and the Essence The False Lashes Dramatic Volume Mascara make up the rest. I really enjoy most of Essence’s mascaras. I have been disappointed by a few in the past, but this little guy puts Essence back in the running. I really enjoyed using this mascara and I think considering the exceptionally low price it has to be one of the best affordable mascaras in the market at the moment.
Will I buy this product again? Yes, without any doubt! I am already on my second tube.
