As you know by now I have a few beauty obsessions, including but not limited to: primers, concealers and a good facial scrub. I have previously expressed my grievances at finding a replacement for my much beloved Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant due to the ever rising cost of this product (currently retailing for R1020 for 75g which is utterly insane in my opinion). I have a strong preference for enzymatic/chemical exfoliators as I am not a fan of microbead-based scrubs due to the impact on the environment. Unfortunately most exfoliators are microbead/granular-based and there are few chemical options available. I tried the Sorbet Daily Skin Polish Powder (R220) and I am going to be very honest that this is not an exact dupe for Dermalogica. For one I really disliked the residue it left behind on my skin and secondly it just didn’t pack the punch I was hoping to get from it. You can read my full review here. A very sweet reader send me an email that she remembered I am still looking for a Dermalogica dupe and that I should try the DermaFix DermaPolish Enzymatic Exfoliator. So I did. What did I think?
Product: DermaFix DermaPolish Enzymatic Exfoliator is an enzyme-based rice powder exfoliator that on appearances looks exactly like Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant. It has a very, very faint chemical smell to it but it doesn’t bother me at all. The product is packed in dry form which prolongs its shelf life and is a big plus. The enzymes are activated once mixed with water.
What did I think? I was nervous to use the DermaFix DermaPolish Enzymatic Exfoliator as I have tried so many exfoliators before that ended up being a disappointment. I have been using it now for a few weeks and I LOVE it! My skin is as soft as a baby’s bottom after I used this exfoliator. It does a great job at buffing your skin yet it doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped or dry. This exfoliator doesn’t feel overly abrasive but you can feel a very clear difference in how soft and smooth your skin is post use. A very important plus is that is leaves zero residue and is easy to wash off. I had no issues with any breakouts or sensitivity up to now. I use the DermaFix DermaPolish Enzymatic Exfoliator two to three times per week.
Is this am exact dupe for Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant? Having used Dermalogica’s Daily Mircrofoliant for many years I know exactly how it makes my skin feel, what the powder looks and feels like etc. I therefore have a very clear idea of the criteria another product will have to meet before it can be labelled as a dupe. So is the DermaFix DermaPolish Enzymatic Exfoliator an exact dupe? Without any doubt yes. From my personal experience this product performs to the T the same as Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant. My search is officially over.
Price: 50g – R260 and 100g – R435, which is expecional value for money. The DermaFix DermaPolish Enzymatic Exfoliator is available from selected salons or you can order it online. Click here to order.
Will I buy this again? Hell yes! This is an exact dupe and I have finally found what I have been looking for. I bought two 100g tubs to take with to the Netherlands and I am sure it will last me a long time. I am ever so slightly concerned that it might look like I am transporting cocaine, but it is so good that I will take my chances hahaha 😉
