This will be my last post for 2016. To be honest, it doesn’t really feel like the year has gone and I will probably be writing ‘2016’ at least until March. I really wish you all a blessed 2017 and thank you kindly to every reader for your loyal support throughout the past year. Before we put our party shoes on and get the champagne flutes out, let’s have a look at my December favorites!
Redken High Rise Volume+ Shampoo
I am sure you will know that I am very fond of my Pureology Hydrating shampoo and conditioner. It just works for me and leaves my hair shiny and manageable (you can read my full review here). I do like to switch up my shampoos sometimes in order to prevent my hair from building a tolerance to my most used shampoo. I have been eyeing the Redken High Rise Volume+ shampoo for a while and when I saw it in one of All Dolled Up’s favorites videos, I was sold. I purchased the Redken Beach Volume shampoo as well, but I am still making up my mind about that one. What I can say about the Redken High Rise Volume+ shampoo is that is that I really enjoyed using it on alternate washes throughout December. It provides good volume and rise and although not as hydrating as the Pureology Hydrating shampoo, it didn’t leave my hair overly stripped or dry. I will do a full review on both the Redken shampoos in the new year, so be sure to keep an eye out.
Nivea Lemongrass & Oil Showergel
This was probably my favoritest (is that even a word?!) favorite during the month of December! The scent of the Nivea Lemongrass & Oil showergel is an instant pick-me-up! It has a fresh, sweet, zesty citrus fragrance that I absolutely loved. It doesn’t make my skin feel dry and has miraculously not given me the dreaded itch that I frequently get with fragranced body products. It is a very affordable showergel (I think in the order of R32) and I am sure it is going to be in my shower for a long time.
Nivea Express Hydration Body Lotion
The Nivea Express Hydration Body Lotion is a really good, light-weight everyday moisturizer. It is quickly absorbed by the skin and doesn’t leave any residue, meaning you can get dressed immediately after applying the lotion without the fear of the dreaded body lotion marks on your silk top. It has the classic Nivea scent we all love and I think this is a particularly good product to use during the hot, humid months.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment
I bought this little miracle hair styling cream ages ago at Sephora. Although it is quite expensive ($27) you can clearly see it is good value for money as it has lasted me nearly two years. The PHD 5-in-1 Styling treatment is a silicone-free styling treatment that provides volume, smoothing effect, shine and conditioning. As an added bonus you also get UV protection, static control and heat protection. I absolutely love it. I love the amazing smell and how manageable it makes my hair. I have straight, very fine hair – most days I just apply a dollop of this styling treatment to damp hair followed by a no-fuss blowdry. Even with this minimal effort my hair always look like I had a salon blowout when I use this product. Big thumbs-up from me and definitely worth the money (if you can get a beauty-mule to send it to you).
The Body Shop Italian Summer Fig EPD
I wrote a full review on The Body Shop’s Italian Summer Fig collection. It is one of my favorite scents as it smells exactly like the Country Road Fig candles and diffusers – you all know how obsessed I am with Country Road. It is a fresh, light-weight scent that is not overly sweet. It doesn’t last the whole day, but it smells so delicious that I don’t mind spritzing it on halfway through the day as a top-up. It is probably more a summery scent, but I love it so much that I wear it whenever I feel like it, despite the season. You can read my full review here.
All right, that is it for the December Favorites. Enjoy the rest of the holidays and I will chat to you guys soon! xx
