On my recent visit to South Africa I was left without my beloved Neostrata Bio-Hydrating cream (you can read my review here ) and I had no choice but to use my go-to air travel moisturizer for a few days. I have always sworn by Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Hydrator for in flight hydration (how bad are those aircons?) as I have never found something else that can quite lock the moisture in as well as this little guy does. It made me realize how underrated this product is and that it certainly deserves a spot on my blog.
Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Hydrator
Packaging: My biggest and only gripe with this product is the jar packaging. I am really not a massive fan of jar packaging for hygienic reasons, but if you always make sure your hands are clean I guess it is okay.
Product: The Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Hydrator is a rich, luxurious hydrating barrier-repair gel-cream that is fragrance-free and suitable for sensitive skin. As an added bonus it is also oil-free and won’t clog your pores. The product is aimed at dry to very dry skin and as I have an ongoing battle with dry- and dehydrated but still prone to breakout skin, this really is perfect for me and I have not experienced any issues in terms of breakouts. What I like about the product that it sinks into your skin immediately without leaving any stickiness behind. It also wears very well under makeup.
PS: If you go to the Clinique counter you will see that there are two options in the Moisture Surge-range: the one is the above Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Hydrator which is the richer, barrier-repair cream and intense moisturizer. The other product in the range is the Moisture Surge Extented Thirst Relief which is the lighter more sorbet-like gel moisturizer. I have tried it before but for the purpose of what I wanted it (i.e in-flight dryness protection) I didn’t find it hydrating enough and the hydration effect did not last as long as what I hoped for.
Price: The product comes in a generous size and as a little goes a really long way, I find it to be good value for money. It is available in 30ml or 50ml. R425/€29
What did I think? I have been using this cream for years whenever I am on a long-haul flight. It makes my skin soft, plump and well hydrated without turning it into an oily mess. Eventhough I am reunited with my Neostrata skincare regime, I still use the Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Hydrator on days when my skin just feels exhausted and dry. I am really keen to try the new Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate, it sounds right up my ally! If you are also curious about this hydration boost product you can click here.
Will I buy this product again? A big YES!
