I recently ran out of my holy-grail MAC Mineralized Skinfinish powder and I thought to try a drugstore powder while I was anyway looking for a new powder and didn’t have time to go to MAC. I ended up with the Catrice 18H Made To Stay Powder, I think mostly for the beautiful embossing on the product and I have never tried any of Catrice’s powders before. I am not sure exactly how I ended up with a matte powder since I have dry skin, but I remember I was in a terrible hurry and probably grabbed the wrong product! Haha, but I thought I will test it out regardless and see how it responds to drier skin.
Catrice 18H Made To Stay Powder
Product: The Catrice 18H Made To Stay Powder is a water-resistant powder that is enriched with anti-oxidants and promises up to 18-hours of mattifying. This powder is cruelty-free and vegan.
Packaging: I really like the embossing of the word ‘stay’ on the product. It makes it appear more luxurious. The compact itself unfortunately does not have the sturdiest or best quality packaging and a mirror in the compact would have been a nice add-on.
Formula: The Catrice 18H Made To Stay Powder is finely milled and velvety soft. The product is not brittle in the compact or overly messy.
Wear: The powder is supposed to melt into your skin and provide a long-lasting sealant to keep your foundation intact and absorb oiliness. I will whole heartedly admit that even on the website they say oily skin has far better results with this powder and I think they are right. The powder definitely has a lovely soft-to-the-touch feel on application, but it is way too drying for my skin. I think this powder will work extremely well for readers with mildly oily skin. The powder applies matte and kept my makeup oil-free throughout the day. Sadly the product is just too drying which naturally results in a cakey/ashy appearance on dry skin.

What did I think? I definitely made a little error by choosing a mattifying powder for myself, however, I think the Catrice 18H Made To Stay Powder will work like a charm for readers with oilier skin. I am going to give this powder to a friend with oilier skin and see what she thinks. The product is really soft and you can easily see it is a quality powder. It just didn’t work for me but not due to problems with the powder itself. I also think it’s amazing that the powder is water-resistant making it a favorable choice for the warmer months. I must say it’s not cold here by us in summer – the humidity is simply insane on some days and your makeup can literally melt off your face regardless of your type of skin. I tested it on several ridiculously hot occasions and eventhough I do not like the tight/dry feeling on application, it truly made a difference in terms of how well my makeup was able to tolerate the heat.
Will I buy this product again? I will not buy the Catrice 18H Made To Stay Powder for myself again, but I am very curious to find out what my oily-skin friend thinks. I will keep you guys posted.
